Kava, Pure Relaxation From Nature
Kava is a plant based elixer (prepared of the roots of piper methysticum) that has been historically used by South Pacific islanders as a safe, natural alternative to drugs and alcohol, because it can bring about significant mood boosting, cognitive enhancing and anxiety relieving effects. Kava’s active compounds (known as kavalactones) naturally modulate key receptors in the brain, which gives them the ability to gently enhance the activity of the body’s main pleasure chemicals dopamine, serotonin, and GABA. This provides users with increased productivity and relaxation at the same time. It also allows users to loosen up and connect easier during social interaction. In the islands, kava is also known as a very gentle entheogen (psychedelic) that brings about creative and introspective thinking that makes users more empathetic over time. However, the main draw to Kava is that it provides these effects without any of the drunkenness that can impair fine motor skills and is completely non addictive. Connoisseurs describe the experience as a calm, enhanced state of natural sobriety.
Benefits Include

Not All Kava Is Created Equal
There is a massive spectrum of different strains and forms of kava on the market that can vary drastically in terms of their quality, potency, purity and overall effects profile. Most of what is referred to as kava on the market comes in the form of extracts labeled “kava kava” (in capsules, liquids, pastes or tea bags) that have been available in select health food stores for years. These products generally meet almost none of the qualification standards to be actually classified as real “kava” and contain little to none of the effects that kava has become so highly prized for in the islands. This is because they are virtually all extracted using alcohol or chemical solvents that have limited extraction capabilities which only capture a small fraction of kava’s medicinal compounds. Many of these products are also adulterated with mold, mycotoxins, industrial chemicals, low grade kava varieties, and non-root aerial plant parts that are not safe for human consumption.
Therefore, they are not at all considered “true kava” but instead “kava –like products” which have almost none of the effects that the plant is so prized for in the islands. The official definition of kava (as stated in the KAVA ACT passed in Parliament in Vanuatu in 2002) is “the solvent free water extraction from only the roots of Piper Methysticum (kava)”. This means in order to be classified as kava it has to be made with only water and pressure like how it is done with traditional preparation for thousands of years. So these kava-like extracts on the market cannot be referred to as kava, they are something else that’s far inferior. When you understand this it becomes clear that real kava is not really present at all in the global market place and is almost completely unknown to the vast majority of people.

TRU KAVA An Industry Leader
With TRU KAVA, our goal is to set the industry standard for quality and safety by providing premier products made only from contaminant free, lab tested, premium (Noble) kava varieties that have been safely used daily by islanders for over 3000 years. Absolutely no pesticides or industrial chemicals are used at any step of our process. Each batch of kava root is independent lab tested to ensure that it meets all of these strict quality and safety standards. Our products capture the effects of the traditional kava drink in a palatable, easy to use form for the modern world.
Our break though product KAVAPLEX is the world’s first and only full spectrum, shelf stable kava oil. We use a proprietary solvent free extraction method that applies high pressure at very low temperatures, capturing the root’s full complex of kavalactones and other active constituents. We also have other kava products that are virtually indistinguishable from traditional kava in terms of their composition and effects and new products on the horizon. Shake well before using as some root constituents may have settled in the bottom of the bottle.

Kava Safety - Myths And Misconceptions
Anyone researching kava for the first time will most certainly find websites, blogs and articles that claim kava drinking is bad for the liver and your health. The origin of these claims is research that was done over 15 years ago in Switzerland and Germany that led to kava drinking being banned in those countries. And that ban was reversed in 2015 after a growing body of new research has invalidated these incomplete early research findings. This new research has shown that cases of liver toxicity attributed to kava actually occurred only in extremely rare instances when individuals consumed contaminated kava products (toxic above ground aerial parts of the plant), non-noble varieties or kava extracts that were denatured through solvent extraction. Also, most of these few cases of Liver toxicity occurred when these poor quality inedible kava parts were consumed in conjunction with other drugs and medications known to negatively affect liver function.
A recent World Health Organization risk assessment of kava products has stated that ”Kava has had at least a 1500-year history of safe use, with liver side effects never having arisen in the Ethnopharmacological data. Clinical trials of kava have not revealed hepatotoxicty as a problem. This has been confirmed by further studies evaluating the toxicology of the kava drink. Based on available scientific information it can be inferred that kava as a traditional beverage is safe for human consumption.” The indigenous peoples of most islands in the South Pacific have always seen traditional preparations of noble kava varieties as safe for daily consumption. In fact, the majority of people of Vanuatu, a South Pacific island, have been consuming them daily for over 3000 years.

Kava, A Safe Alternative To Drugs And Alcohol
Kava has been shown to be an excellent anti-craving agent for those suffering from drug addiction and dependency. Kavalactones in kava bind to the same receptors in the brain as many of these substances, except kava modulates them in a way that doesn’t create tolerance and dependency. In fact, it is well known by long term kava users that kava can produce what is called a “reverse tolerance” effect and you use less kava as time goes on but still noticing the same effects.

Elevate your mind and your mood

Kava is gaining mass popularity in the modern world as a safe natural antidepressant and powerful nootropic that can boost mood and cognitive function. It does this primarily by naturally boosting dopamine, which is the body’s main pleasure chemical that also plays a central role in mental focus, motivation, and memory recall. This makes it an excellent tool for studying, working and enhancing creativity. However, because of its additional relaxing effects that that come through activating both GABA and serotonin, kava brings about a happy, peaceful state of calm focus. This can be much different than the more jittery anxious focus that can come from using stimulants and many other nootropics. This calm focus is generally referred to as an Alpha state, which is known to be the optimal state of mind for accessing maximum creativity and one’s ability learn new information.
One of the most valuable and amazing aspects of kava is that it is able to provide amazing effects on the mind without being physiologically addictive at all. This has always been well known in the islands, but has also been shown consistently in published studies. Unlike other substances that affect the dopamine and serotonin pathways, kava is not habit forming and you will not build up a tolerance to the effects of kava, which would cause you to need to drink more each time. In fact, the exact opposite has been shown. Kava naturally props up dopamine levels without depleting or down regulating its function. This is due to kava’s natural chemical composition that makes it fully compatible with the human body.

Kava is a powerful keto friendly tool for biohackers that reduces carbohydrate cravings, increases fat burning and provides stable energy levels throughout the day. This makes it excellent for helping to raise energy levels and stave off hunger while on a Ketogenic diet or while attempting any type of fasting. One kavalactone in particular called Yangonin has been shown to significantly activate a pathway called AMPK (Adenosine monophosphate activated protein kinase) that increases cellular autophagy, a bodily process that involves converting stored body fat and old damaged cells (including cancerous cells) into usable energy as fuel. This can not only help to drastically reduce inflammation in the body, but it also assists in weight loss and mental clarity as well.
By activating this AMPK pathway, it appears that kava is able to help mimic the effects of fasting and calorie restriction, thus stimulating the body to burn fat as fuel (to boost energy) and helps to clear out unwanted tissues. Kava also drastically increases dopamine levels in the brain, which boosts mood and mental energy as well while reducing overall appetite. For these reasons, kava is now gaining popularity for its ability to make both intermittent fasting and extended fasting much easier for the average person. This also explains why kava is such a profound keto adaptive agent that can help individuals get into ketosis while attempting a ketogenic diet and further enhance the diet once they are adapted.
The use of both coffee and MCT oil have both become extremely popular in recent years for their ability to jump start fat burning as well. The team at TRU KAVA has discovered that there is an incredibly synergistic effect between coffee, kava oil, and MCT oil that when combined drastically amplifies the effects of all three and seems to take fat burning, mental clarity and energy production to a whole new level.

Enhance Your Coffee With KAVAPLEX
Kava in and of itself is an excellent tool to use during fasting, intermittent fasting, and keto adaptation because of its ability to suppress appetite, lower cortisol and accelerate fat burning and autophagy. This makes it a phenomenal adjunct to coffee during fasting or intermittent fasting for several reasons. By lowering the cortisol spike that some get from drinking coffee you are also lowering the blood glucose spike that goes along with it. And by cranking up fat burning you are able to use body fat for fuel more quickly and stave off appetite for much longer. It also of course adds an extra mood and nootropic (mental clarity) kick to your coffee, while taking away the jitters that some get while drinking it. So it turns out that KAVAPLEX is a fantastic tool to take the overall effects of coffee and MCT to the next level, but also a great tool for those who like coffee but normally get side effects from it. And of course it’s a great alternative for those who don’t do well with coffee no matter what.
